Job description

The Role

We’re looking for a driven and creative Account Executive to bring Descript’s video and AI solutions to more businesses around the world.

As one of our early sales hires, you’ll help shape our sales playbook, refine our strategy, and drive new revenue growth. This role offers a rare opportunity to partner closely with Product and Marketing teams, working across the company to define the future of Descript’s enterprise and creator sales motion.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the full sales cycle — from prospecting to closing and expansion
  • Develop and execute outbound strategies to identify and engage new opportunities
  • Run product demos and lead technical + business conversations across multiple stakeholder levels
  • Build and manage executive-level relationships with enterprise customers
  • Travel to industry conferences, VIP executive dinners, and face-to-face customer meetings
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize the customer journey and feed insights into product and marketing initiatives

What You Bring

  • Proven success in a quota-carrying B2B SaaS or AI sales role
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and closing high-value deals
  • Hands-on experience with cold outbound — you've done it, you've seen it work, and you're not afraid of it
  • Ability to translate technical products into clear business outcomes
  • Creative, persistent, and curious approach to building pipeline and outreach
  • A strong growth mindset
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments — you build as you go
  • Enthusiasm for creator-oriented tools, especially in video, audio, or AI
  • Knowledge of media creation workflows within organizations

The base salary range for this role is $100,000- $125,000/year and the compensation structure will follow a 50/50 base/variable split. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, and may vary from the amount above.

About Descript

Descript is building a simple, intuitive, fully-powered editing tool for video and audio — an editing tool built for the age of AI. We are a team of 150 and the backing of some of the world's greatest investors (OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, Spark Capital).

Descript is the special company that's in possession of both product market fit and the raw materials (passionate user community, great product, large market) for growth, but is still early enough that each new employee has a measurable influence on the direction of the company.

Benefits include a generous healthcare package, 401k matching program, catered lunches, and flexible vacation time. Our headquarters are located in the Mission District of San Francisco, CA. We're hiring for a mix of remote roles and hybrid roles. For those who are remote, we have a handful of opportunities throughout the year for in person collaboration. For our hybrid roles, we're flexible, and you're an adult—we don't expect or mandate that you're in the office every day. We do believe there are valuable and serendipitous moments of discovery and collaboration that come from working together in person.

Descript is an equal opportunity workplace—we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We believe in actively building a team rich in diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions to better allow our employees, products, and community to thrive.
