Virtualization Architect

Black & Grey HR is recruiting for an established technology solutions and services provider in Doha, Qatar. Our client is seeking an experienced Virtualization Architect to design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade virtualization platforms, with a strong focus on Nutanix technologies. The role will be responsible for building highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient virtualization environments across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms, including active active datacenter architectures, software-defined networking, disaster recovery, and centralized infrastructure management.Key Responsibilities:Virtualization Architecture & Design- Design and maintain enterprise virtualization architecture standards, with a primary focus on Nutanix platforms.- Define architecture blueprints covering compute, storage, virtualization, and software defined networking components.- Ensure virtualization designs meet requirements for scalability, performance, security, availability, and operational efficiency.- Participate in architecture reviews and ensure solutions align with enterprise technology standards.- Design resilient virtualization architectures supporting business-critical workloads and enterprise applications.Nutanix Platform Leadership- Lead the design, deployment, and operation of Nutanix AHV, AOS, and Prism environments.- Provide hands-on technical expertise in Nutanix cluster design, configuration, lifecycle management, and upgrades.- Optimize Nutanix infrastructure components for performance, capacity, availability, and operational efficiency.- Define Nutanix platform standards, best practices, and operational procedures.- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex Nutanix infrastructure issues.Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Integration- Design and support hybrid and multi-cloud virtualization environments.- Integrate on-premises virtualization platforms with public cloud services where required.- Support cloud-adjacent and cloud-integrated workloads across enterprise environments.- Ensure seamless integration between on-premises virtualization infrastructure and cloud platforms.- Contribute to cloud transformation and virtualization modernization initiatives.High Availability & Disaster Recovery- Design and operate highly available virtualization platforms, including active-active datacenter architectures.- Design and implement synchronous and asynchronous replication solutions.- Support metro clusters, disaster recovery, business continuity, and DR orchestration initiatives.- Plan, execute, and document disaster recovery testing and business continuity scenarios.- Ensure virtualization platforms meet defined availability, resilience, and recovery objectives.Software-Defined Networking & Security- Design and operate software-defined networking solutions within enterprise virtualization environments.- Implement secure network segmentation, traffic management, and network resiliency.- Apply micro-segmentation, Zero Trust, and defense-in-depth principles across virtualized environments.- Collaborate with network and security teams to ensure secure and resilient infrastructure architectures.- Support troubleshooting of complex virtualization networking and security issues. Centralized Management & Automation- Implement and maintain centralized management, monitoring, and automation platforms.- Provide unified visibility across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and disaster recovery layers.- Define operational dashboards, alerts, performance metrics, and infrastructure KPIs.- Support automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual activities.- Establish standardized monitoring and management practices across virtualization platforms.Operations, Monitoring & Optimization- Ensure the stability, availability, security, and performance of enterprise virtualization platforms.- Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, optimization, and lifecycle management.- Lead root cause analysis for complex infrastructure incidents and recurring issues.- Identify opportunities for continuous service improvement and infrastructure optimization.- Maintain operational standards, procedures, and technical documentation.Project Delivery & Technical Leadership- Lead virtualization initiatives end-to-end, including new deployments, upgrades, migrations, consolidations, and technology refreshes.- Provide technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure engineers during implementation and operations.- Support automation, standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer.- Coordinate with vendors and technology partners during solution implementation and support engagements.Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration- Work closely with network, storage, security, database, application, and infrastructure teams.- Communicate technical designs, architecture decisions, risks, and operational considerations to technical and business stakeholders.- Participate in technical workshops, architecture reviews, and solution discussions.- Coordinate with vendors and partners to ensure successful delivery and resolution of technical issues.RequirementsRequirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.- 8–10 years of experience in enterprise virtualization and infrastructure environments.- Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix platforms in production environments.- Proven experience designing and operating active-active datacenter architectures.- Strong experience with hyperconverged, hybrid, and multi-cloud virtualization environments.- Solid understanding of High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Business Continuity concepts.- Hands-on experience with software-defined networking and centralized infrastructure management.- Experience with Nutanix AHV, AOS, Prism Central, and Nutanix lifecycle management.- Strong understanding of virtualization networking, micro-segmentation, and infrastructure security controls.- Experience with active-active datacenters, metro clusters, replication, and DR orchestration.- Strong troubleshooting skills across complex, multi-layer infrastructure environments.- Excellent documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.Required Skillset- Nutanix AHV, AOS, Prism Central, and Lifecycle Management.- Enterprise virtualization architecture and HCI platforms.- Active-active datacenter architecture and metro cluster technologies.- Disaster Recovery, replication, backup, business continuity, and DR orchestration.- Hybrid and multi-cloud virtualization environments.- Software-defined networking, virtualization networking, and micro-segmentation.- Zero Trust architecture and defense-in-depth security principles.- Centralized infrastructure monitoring, management, automation, and capacity planning.- Infrastructure performance optimization and lifecycle management.- Architecture documentation, technical design, solution blueprints, and operational procedures.- Strong cross-functional collaboration with infrastructure, network, security, storage, database, and application teams.Certifications- Nutanix certifications such as NCP, NCM, or equivalent are highly desirable.- Software-defined networking / network virtualization certification is strongly preferred.- Cloud foundation certifications are desirable.Benefits- Competitive Salary + Benefits Package
