FULL TIME and PART TIME positions for the Children's Ski Instructor, Ages 3 to 6 years old, is now available for the

2014-2015 season.

The Instructor will provide quality ski instruction to groups and individuals ages 3 to 6 years old in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Colorado Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity using our teaching handbook as a guide
  • Must be able to discuss the lesson content and evaluate the progress of the lesson with parents and/or legal guardians
  • Upholding the highest levels of safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions
  • Able to physically, clearly and accurately demonstrate assigned levels of Alpine skiing models.
  • Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verbally
  • Ensuring that students are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary
  • Assisting children or students to load and unload the chairlift
  • Clearly communicating instructions and helping guests
  • Supervising children in lessons at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian
  • Assisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Snowboard programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source or lesson meeting place, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Attend morning meetings/be responsible for morning meeting information
  • Must possess high levels of creativity
  • Teach skiing at all levels of difficulty based upon ability and experience
  • Understand and abide by the rules and procedures set forth in the Sli and Snowboard School Resource and Guidelines Manual
  • Must have high level of guest service skills and experience
  • Assist with boot/equipment fitting, sales lobby greeting and other tasks assigned by Manager/Supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • REQUIRED: RESUME AND TWO LETTERS OF PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATION
  • Must possess level 5 or higher skiing ability - required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older - required
  • High School or Equivalent Education - required
  • Experience working with children between ages 3 to 12 - preferred
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children - preferred
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends - required
  • Must successfully complete the Background Check, Fit to Ride fitness assessment program and scheduled training - required
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written) - required
  • Must have excellent guest service and communication skills - required
  • Must work well in a team environment - required

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity using our teaching handbook as a guideMust be able to discuss the lesson content and evaluate the progress of the lesson with parents and/or legal guardiansUpholding the highest levels of safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditionsAble to physically, clearly and accurately demonstrate assigned levels of Alpine skiing models.Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verballyEnsuring that students are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessaryAssisting children or students to load and unload the chairliftClearly communicating instructions and helping guestsSupervising children in lessons at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardianAssisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Snowboard programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source or lesson meeting place, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.Attend morning meetings/be responsible for morning meeting informationMust possess high levels of creativityTeach skiing at all levels of difficulty based upon ability and experienceUnderstand and abide by the rules and procedures set forth in the Sli and Snowboard School Resource and Guidelines ManualMust have high level of guest service skills and experienceAssist with boot/equipment fitting, sales lobby greeting and other tasks assigned by Manager/SupervisorsOther duties as assigned Qualifications:REQUIRED: RESUME AND TWO LETTERS OF PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATIONMust possess level 5 or higher skiing ability - requiredMust be 18 years of age or older - requiredHigh School or Equivalent Education - requiredExperience working with children between ages 3 to 12 - preferredPrevious experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children - preferredMust be available to work holidays and weekends - requiredMust successfully complete the Background Check, Fit to Ride fitness assessment program and scheduled training - requiredMust be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written) - requiredMust have excellent guest service and communication skills - requiredMust work well in a team environment - requiredMust be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment - requiredMust have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions - requiredMust be willing to adhere to the Vail Resorts policy of wearing an approved snowsports helmet at all times while teaching - requiredKnowledge of local area/resort - preferredSecond language, especially Spanish - preferredBasic internet navigation - required Apply on Company Website Apply Later ← Back to Current Openings Share lang: en_US Share LinkedIn Facebook Twitter Email
