Position Summary

Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee grading, heavy civil construction, and site development projects throughout the Southeast. This leadership role is responsible for managing field operations, supervising multiple Foremen and crews, ensuring project safety and quality standards, and driving projects to successful completion on schedule and within scope.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civil construction, strong leadership and organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects, personnel, equipment, and client relationships simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all field operations for grading, excavation, and site development projects

Lead and support multiple Foremen, Lead Men, and field crews across several active jobsites

Ensure all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and company policies

Promote and maintain a strong “Safety First” culture throughout all operations

Manage project schedules, production goals, manpower, equipment, and materials

Attend client meetings, pre-construction meetings, and project coordination meetings

Coordinate with Project Engineers to ensure materials, layouts, and project timelines are completed accurately and on schedule

Schedule equipment deliveries, subcontractors, and construction materials

Communicate project scope, schedules, and expectations with field leadership teams

Perform random jobsite safety inspections and ensure erosion control compliance

Maintain MSHA compliance documentation and ensure all field personnel maintain current records and training

Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training field personnel

Review and submit project billing information, timesheets, fuel logs, load counts, and related documentation

Maintain organized project files including change orders, material tracking, and production records

Conduct inspections of vehicles, equipment, and jobsites to ensure operational and safety standards are maintained

Maintain professional communication with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams

Oversee company vehicle maintenance, expense reports, and weekly credit card reconciliations

Additional Duties

Operate heavy equipment when needed

Assist with preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs

Monitor tool, fuel, and material inventory levels

Ensure equipment and jobsites remain clean, organized, and secure

Install and maintain erosion control measures including silt fencing

Assist crews with field operations as necessary to maintain production schedules
