Job description

Do you have a passion for leading at the intersection of security, regulation, and customer trust? Do you enjoy building and developing teams that solve ambiguous, high-stakes assurance problems? Do you have ideas about how AWS should scale the way it demonstrates security assurance to its most sophisticated customers, regulators, and auditors? At Amazon Web Services (AWS), Security is our highest priority. Come join Security Assurance, a team dedicated to earning and maintaining the trust of our most regulatory and security conscious customers, and to giving them the confidence to run their most sensitive workloads securely on AWS.

Job Summary

Security Assurance earns customer trust by providing transparency into AWS’s security posture across customer, regulatory, and third-party assurance programs. Rather than focusing solely on compliance against specific regulations, our team plays a pivotal role in earning and maintaining trust in the security of AWS — working with the world’s most sophisticated organizations to give enterprise customers, regulators, and third-party auditors the confidence they need about the security of customer-critical workloads deployed on AWS. This is vastly different from a typical assurance and compliance function: we operate at internet scale, across hundreds of certifications and thousands of individual controls, with a proactive, hands-on approach that goes far beyond evaluating compliance.

We are looking for an experienced people leader to manage and grow a team within Security Assurance. In this role you will lead a team of assurance professionals delivering engagements across one or more of our product lines — Enterprise Customer, Regulatory, and Third-Party Audit — and you will be accountable for the performance, development, and day-to-day delivery of that team. You will operate in an environment shaped by increasing customer and regulatory expectations, with developments such as DORA, NIS2, and evolving sovereignty requirements reshaping the landscape. Working within the strategy set by your leadership, you will translate program goals into clear plans for your team, remove blockers, and ensure your team delivers assurance outcomes that meet customer and regulator expectations.

You are someone who leads by example — you coach and develop your team, set high standards, and know when to dive into the detail. You can prioritise well, communicate early and clearly, and demonstrate a track record of delivering both personally and through the people you lead. You are a positive influence across diverse teams, able to rally support for your initiatives and collaborate with others to drive simple, scalable solutions. You use data to understand where your team is delivering well, where the bottlenecks are, and where to focus to improve.

Location

This role is based in London, UK.

Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Manager in Security Assurance, you will lead a team that helps AWS demonstrate its security commitments to customers, regulators, and third-party auditors. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

Team leadership & development

- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team of assurance professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and customer obsession.

- Coach and develop team members — supporting their growth from tactical execution toward broader strategic insight, business acumen, and stronger stakeholder skills.

- Manage team performance, hiring, and workload allocation, assigning work in a way that both delivers for the business and develops each individual.

- Lead through influence and empowerment — rolling up your sleeves alongside your team while insisting on the highest standards.

Program & delivery ownership

- Own the planning, organising, and execution of assurance engagements delivered by your team, across the Enterprise Customer, Regulatory, and Third-Party Audit product lines.

- Deliver enterprise customer assurance engagements, including for highly regulated customers with specific compliance requirements.

- Support regulatory compliance and examination responses for relevant frameworks (e.g. DORA, NIS2, and national regimes), working within the approach set by senior leadership.

- Contribute to certification and attestation programs (e.g. SOC, C5, ISO 27001, PCI), ensuring your team meets regional and national requirements.

Customer & stakeholder engagement

- Manage day-to-day relationships with enterprise customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring engagements run smoothly and expectations are met.

- Partner with internal security, service, product, and program teams to identify and implement business requirements.

- Represent your team in customer briefings and cross-functional forums, escalating to senior leaders where regulator- or executive-level engagement is required.

- Demonstrate strong judgement in handling sensitive intellectual property and security information.

Operational execution & scale

- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of your team’s activities and recommend improvements to deliver at scale.

- Define and track key performance indicators for your team’s delivery, identifying capacity constraints and delivery bottlenecks.

- Implement mechanisms to address recurring escalation patterns and persistent challenges.

- Distil complex regulatory and customer requirements into simple, actionable plans for your team, and use data to escalate and drive necessary change.

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

- Experience directly managing and developing people, including hiring, performance management, and coaching team members.

- Experience leading the delivery of compliance, audit, risk, or security assurance programs.

- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit, and risk management principles.

- Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive outcomes across teams.

- Experience using data and metrics to identify problems, measure performance, and drive improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience leading assurance or compliance teams in a cloud, technology, or highly regulated environment.

- Familiarity with EMEA regulatory frameworks such as DORA and NIS2, and with certification/attestation programs (e.g. SOC, C5, ISO 27001, PCI).

- Experience engaging enterprise customers, regulators, or third-party auditors.

- A track record of building high-performing, inclusive teams and developing individuals toward broader strategic and business impact.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex requirements into simple, actionable plans.

- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CISA, CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor) or an equivalent depth of practical experience
