Job description

Who We Are

Parenting isn’t picture-perfect. It’s messy, hilarious, exhausting, and life-changing — sometimes all before noon. That’s where we come in.

Founded in 2014 by our CEO Chelsea Hirschhorn, Frida was built to make the raw reality of parenting a little easier to navigate (and a lot less overwhelming). It all started with one legendary snot-sucker — the NoseFrida — and has grown into a 200+ product lineup that supports families through every stage: from fertility and postpartum recovery to baby care and beyond.

We don’t shy away from the stuff no one else wants to talk about — nipple pain, diaper blowouts, or the emotional rollercoaster that comes with keeping a tiny human alive. We call it like it is, solve the problems that actually matter, and build products that help parents feel seen, supported, and totally capable.

You can now find Frida products in 50+ countries and thousands of stores across the U.S., from the biggest national retailers to your neighborhood grocery aisle.

Under Hirschhorn’s leadership, Frida has become a category leader by challenging taboos, championing honesty, and supporting families at every stage of parenthood and beyond, earning acclaim on TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies, TIME Best Inventions, Fast Company Most Innovative Companies and Fast Company Brands That Matter. But the real win? Knowing we’re helping parents everywhere feel a little more human and a little less alone.

How You Will Make an Impact

Frida is seeking a Sourcing Manager, Formulation to join our Operations team based in Miami, FL. Reporting to the Director of Sourcing, Formulation & Consumables, this role will help build and scale Frida’s supplier network and sourcing capability for formulated products, identifying and developing contract manufacturing partners that can support products from formulation and commercialization through scaled production. The ideal candidate brings experience within personal care, beauty, OTC, consumer health, or similar formulated consumer products and combines strong commercial judgment with enough technical fluency to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, identify risks, and make informed sourcing decisions. The Sourcing Manager, Formulation will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Build and expand Frida’s network of contract manufacturers and development partners for formulated products, identifying suppliers with the technical capabilities, quality systems, regulatory expertise, capacity, and commercial structure required to support growth
  • Lead the identification, qualification, evaluation, negotiation, onboarding, and ongoing development of new and existing contract manufacturers and other strategic supply partners
  • Match product and formulation requirements with manufacturing partners capable of supporting formulation, batching, blending, filling, testing, validation, packaging, and commercial-scale production
  • Partner cross-functionally throughout the commercialization process, helping move products from formulation or concept through supplier selection, scale-up, qualification, first production, and ongoing commercial manufacturing
  • Evaluate contract manufacturers' technical capabilities, including formulation expertise, manufacturing processes, filling technologies, testing, stability programs, validation, packaging capabilities, and scalability
  • Translate product, quality, regulatory, packaging, and manufacturing requirements into sourcing strategies and supplier recommendations
  • Lead RFQs and competitive sourcing processes, analyze supplier proposals and cost structures, develop sourcing scenarios, and recommend partners that best balance cost, capability, quality, speed, risk, and scalability
  • Lead commercial negotiations with new and existing manufacturing partners, including product COGS, minimum order quantities, lead times, payment terms, capacity commitments, and other key business terms
  • Develop an understanding of supplier cost structures and key cost drivers, including ingredients, raw materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, testing, and production volumes, to identify opportunities for value creation
  • Assess ingredient availability, raw material cost drivers, MOQs, shelf-life considerations, testing requirements, and regulatory constraints that may impact commercialization or supply continuity
  • Lead formulation transfers, supplier qualification activities, first production runs, and manufacturing transitions in partnership with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks related to contract manufacturers, critical raw materials, single-source ingredients, capacity constraints, long lead times, and other potential disruptions
  • Identify alternate ingredients, suppliers, manufacturing partners, or production approaches that improve cost, quality, performance, speed, or supply continuity without compromising product requirements
  • Assess technical and commercial risks related to packaging components, filling-line compatibility, manufacturing capabilities, and production requirements and recommend solutions to mitigate risk
  • Build strong relationships across the formulated-products manufacturing ecosystem and use market knowledge to identify emerging capabilities, potential partners, capacity opportunities, and alternative sources
  • Monitor supplier performance and partner with Supplier Relationship Management and cross-functional teams to address performance gaps and strengthen key supplier relationships
  • Support supplier agreement negotiations and confidentiality and intellectual property protections related to formulations in partnership with Legal and other stakeholders
  • Summarize sourcing recommendations and award decisions, clearly communicating evaluation criteria, tradeoffs, risks, and business rationale to stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate product cost information and pursue cost and supplier optimization opportunities that improve COGS while maintaining quality, performance, and supply continuity
  • Execute supplier-base optimization initiatives and support Frida’s broader strategic sourcing and operational objectives
  • Travel approximately 25% to evaluate, qualify, develop, and strengthen relationships with potential and existing manufacturing partners

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Chemistry, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, external manufacturing, supplier development, commercialization, manufacturing, CDMO/CM management, or a related role supporting formulated consumer products
  • Experience within personal care, beauty, OTC, consumer health, pharmaceuticals, or similar formulated and/or regulated consumer product categories strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, qualifying, negotiating with, onboarding, and managing contract manufacturers, CDMOs, or other external manufacturing partners
  • Experience supporting formulated products from concept or formulation through scale-up, qualification, first production, and commercial manufacturing
  • Strong technical fluency across formulated-product manufacturing, including ingredient sourcing, batching, blending, filling, testing, stability, packaging, and regulatory or quality requirements, with the ability to apply this knowledge to sourcing decisions
  • Familiarity with the formulated-products manufacturing ecosystem; established supplier relationships or strong industry network knowledge is a plus
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, including evaluating supplier proposals, understanding COGS and key cost drivers, and negotiating business terms
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering across Product Development, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Packaging, Supply Chain, Operations, and/or Legal
  • Experience managing RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, capability assessments, audits, or competitive bidding processes
  • Proactive, resourceful problem solver who can evaluate risks and tradeoffs, develop clear recommendations, and move work forward with urgency
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in which requirements and priorities constantly change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail
  • A self-starter with an ability to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
