Senior Unix/Linux Administrator (Server Support Specialist)

Location: Warsaw (Hybrid: 2-3 days per week from the office)

Rate: Up to 110 PLN/h

About the Role

Optiveum is currently looking for an experienced Senior Server Support Specialist to join our client in the banking industry. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Server Engineering team and global support units to drive and improve server operations.

Optiveum acts as the recruitment and contracting partner for this role, meaning you will sign your cooperation agreement directly with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Incident & Resource Optimization: Focus on reducing major incidents, optimizing resources, and improving IT operations across the server infrastructure.

  • Automation & FinOps: Design, build, and maintain automation using Ansible and Terraform to optimize GCP cloud spend and safeguard compliance.

  • Daily Server Management: Diagnose and troubleshoot RedHat/Unix issues, quickly restore services, and ensure configuration integrity across hybrid-cloud environments.

  • IT Governance: Plan and control IT operations by ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies, performing patching, hardening, and monitoring.

What We Are Looking For

  • Core Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience managing at least a few hundred RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Unix servers in enterprise environments.

  • Cloud & Tools: Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and practical experience with RedHat Satellite.

  • Automation Skills: Proven ability to build and implement infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).

  • Operational Excellence: Familiarity with modern monitoring tools, JIRA, Confluence, and ServiceNow/Remedy.

  • Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English (at least B2 level).

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of other Unix OS platforms (Solaris, AIX, IBMi), Veritas Cluster Administration, and VMware support.

  • Previous experience working within a financial institution or a highly regulated environment.
