Agentic coding is foundational to how our engineering team works. Our engineers orchestrate coding agents to move from idea to shipped product at a pace that would be impossible by hand, and they hold that output to a high bar for quality, testing, and reliability.If you've rebuilt your workflow around agents, maintaining context files for your repos, running agents on real production work, publishing MCP servers, or rethinking how code review works when an agent writes the first draft, you'll feel at home. If you're still evaluating whether AI coding tools are ready, this probably isn't the right role.The opportunityWe hire senior software engineers into four areas of focus: backend, full stack, data, and infrastructure. Most of what makes an engineer great at Akkio is the same across all four — the specialty is where you'll go deepest, not a box you'll stay in. Apply once and tell us which area fits you best; if you're between two, tell us that too.Whatever your focus, you'll build the systems behind customer-facing AI agents running in production at the world's largest media agencies. This role is built for owners. Requirements at a fast-moving AI startup are rarely fully defined and often shift as we learn from customers. We're looking for someone who treats that as the fun part: someone who takes a partially-shaped problem, drives it to a well-shaped solution, and ships a great product without waiting for a full spec. You'll have direct influence on technical direction, and your work will land in production at agencies serving the world's biggest brands.What you'll doOwn complex technical projects end-to-end, from ambiguous problem statement through architecture, build, deployment, and iteration in productionMultiply your output with agentic coding and help raise the bar for how the whole team builds with agentsDesign systems that scale with our partner base while improving reliability, performance, and cost efficiencyImplement security and compliance measures that protect sensitive partner dataSet engineering standards for code quality and testing in an agent-assisted codebase, and mentor teammates on bothWork directly with engineers, data scientists, and customer teams, and communicate clearly with stakeholders as requirements evolveWho you are5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of solving hard technical problemsYou've deeply integrated AI coding into your daily workflow; agents are your default way of building, not an occasional assist and you can speak concretely about how you direct them, where they fail, and how you verify their outputYou thrive on ownership: you've repeatedly taken loosely defined or shifting requirements and delivered great products anyway, filling gaps with judgment rather than waiting for directionExperience building and debugging large-scale production systemsStrong background with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure) and modern DevOps practicesStrong bias to execution coupled with high engineering standards and attention to detailYour specialtyBackend. Build the server-side systems that power our AI platform: APIs behind customer-facing agents, model deployment and inference infrastructure, and large-scale processing of media and audience data. You bring strong production Python, deep understanding of REST APIs and database design, and experience with distributed architectures.Full stack web. Build the interfaces where agency teams interact with AI agents, explore data, and ship campaign work. You bring strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (we use Vue.js, Node.js, and TypeScript), complex state management, data visualization, and the design sensibility to implement sophisticated interfaces accurately.Data. Build the pipelines and data foundations our platform runs on: high-volume ingestion from partner systems, transformation and modeling for AI workloads, and the analytics architecture behind audience and campaign intelligence. You bring expert SQL, deep experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks), and fluency with orchestration tools like dbt or Airflow.Infrastructure. Build the systems that let our platform run inside our partners' own cloud environments at enterprise scale: deployment automation, observability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You bring deep experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.Bonus pointsPublic artifacts of your agentic workflow: CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md context files in your repos, published MCP servers, agent co-authored commit history, or writing about how you build with agentsHands-on experience building with large language models: evals, tool use, agent orchestration, or LLM-powered product featuresDepth in a second specialty from the list aboveUnderstanding of security best practices for handling sensitive dataPrevious early-stage startup experienceWhy you'll love working hereBuild at the frontier.
