We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who wants to be part of a small, high-impact team shaping something new from day one.🚀 What you'll doDevelop the core of our new storytelling app, written in Kotlin, which enables our customers to create personalized print products with minimal effortBe involved in the creation of our new app from the ground up, playing a key role in defining our architecture and scaling strategyCollaborate with frontend colleagues, product designers and managers to help improve our products by designing and developing new features and REST APIsImprove our architecture to help us scale with the growing demandProactively identify and communicate improvements in your own and your teams workGive and receive feedback, criticize constructively and foster an environment for constant improvementShare your expertise as a Senior Backend Engineer with the Journi Team🎒 Your bag of tricks7+ years of development experience developing Backend applications (links to projects or GitHub are welcome!)Strong knowledge in any JVM based language (Either in Kotlin OR Java. If you do not have experience with Kotlin: You should be willing and interested in learning Kotlin)Experience developing and designing REST APIsYou know how to write automated unit tests with their respective mocks and integration testsExperience working with any SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and any NoSQL database (Redis, AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB)You have strong communication, documentation and collaboration skillsYou are a self-starter with a strong ‘hands-on’ mentality & passion for solving problemsYou are comfortable working in an Agile, fast changing environmentYou work efficiently, prioritize workloads, and meet critical project deadlinesYou are constantly learning, asking for feedback, and self-motivatedYou are permitted to work in the EU/Austria (OR have a degree in Computer Science which is required to apply for an Austrian work permit)You are able to relocate to / based in Vienna - the world’s most liveable city!🔥 Nice-to-havesExperience with the following technologies: PostgreSQL / AWS Aurora, KeyCloak, Redis / Valkey, Docker, AWS (S3, IAM, SQS, ECS, ALB, RDS, CloudFront), GitLab CI/CD, Datadog (APM, Monitors, Logs)Experience working with statistical methods or machine learning algorithmsExperience with working on a microservice infrastructureExperience working with cross-functional teamsCI/CD experienceKotlin experience (Coroutines / Ktor / KMP)✨ What we offerA happy team makes for a happy workplace.
