In this position...

Ford IPTSE Quality is seeking a Quality Analytics Engineer to support data-driven quality improvement across propulsion and thermal systems. This role analyzes warranty, connected-vehicle, diagnostic, and other quality data to identify emerging issues, support root-cause investigations, and deliver actionable insights to engineering teams and leadership.

The ideal candidate has experience with big-data analytics, SQL, Python, data visualization, and automated data pipelines. Responsibilities include developing dashboards and reports, automating data collection and anomaly detection, applying AI and natural-language-processing tools to quality workflows, and supporting corrective-action processes such as Six Sigma, 8D, and DMAIC.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze warranty, connected-vehicle, diagnostic, and other quality data sources to identify emerging defect trends, potential quality escapes, and leading indicators.
  • Partner with Product Development, Design and Release Engineering, Powerpack Quality Engineering, and other IPTSE teams to extract, summarize, and analyze data in support of root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Develop processes, tools, and methods to collect, manipulate, unify, and analyze large connected-vehicle data sets, including onboard diagnostic signals, vehicle speed, engine speed, warning lights, and other relevant indicators.
  • Promote and apply Agile Data Collection methods and tools, including RDR, PARSED, CARMon, ADC Lua scripting, Data Canvas, Alteryx, macros, and related solutions.
  • Automate end-to-end data flows for collection, anomaly detection, transformation, manipulation, and quality-metric delivery to improve throughput and consistency.
  • Build dashboards, automated trend reports, executive-level presentations, and clear data visualizations that make complex findings understandable and actionable.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into quality analytics workflows, including:
    • Classifying warranty claims by failure mode
    • Summarizing customer verbatims
    • Identifying emerging defect trends and potential quality escapes
    • Supporting AI-assisted root-cause investigation summaries
    • Applying natural-language-processing techniques to predictive modeling
  • Develop and document effective data, AI, and analytics practices—including guidance on appropriate models and tools for varying project needs.
  • Support Six Sigma, 8D, DMAIC, CPR, and other corrective-action processes through rigorous data analysis and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Modernize Quality Methods documentation and help coach Powerpack Quality Engineers on data analytics tools, methods, and best practices.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for Cloud-Assisted Diagnostics and ATIS/HTIS end-to-end integration activities.
  • Transfer identified data issues, opportunities, and system improvements to the appropriate DRE, PRA, and supporting teams.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with business partners across Ford North American organizations.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in big-data analytics, data engineering, or a related analytics role.
  • Experience with query languages and platforms such as SQL, Google BigQuery, Spark, or equivalent tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, manipulate, and communicate complex data in a clear, measurable, and business-relevant manner.
  • Strong data visualization and presentation skills.
  • Proven problem-solving ability, including the ability to break down complex issues and create actionable plans.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, organizational, and project-management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with peers and senior leadership.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Ability to perform with composure, technical competence, and sound judgment under pressure.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in big-data analytics, quality analytics, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience with SQL, Google BigQuery, Spark, or similar query and data-processing technologies.
  • Experience ingesting and integrating large data sets from multiple sources using tools such as SQL, Python, Java, Alteryx, Qlik Sense, RStudio, Visual Studio, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Python programming experience and familiarity with AI-enabled development tools or workflows.
  • Experience building unified data sets, automated data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
  • Knowledge of data management, data governance, and data-quality practices.
  • Experience with automotive systems, vehicle features, components, warranty data, connected-vehicle data, diagnostics, or quality processes.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, 8D, DMAIC, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action methodologies.
