Overview

Working at Atlassian

As a distributed-first company, all interviews are conducted virtually. We hire in any country where we have a legal entity. Learn how we work at go.atlassian.com/distributed.

Your Future Org

Atlassian’s Intern program combines hands-on technical design training, professional growth opportunities, dedicated mentorship, and building strong professional connections. This holistic approach empowers students to hit the ground running and sets them up for a successful and impactful career at Atlassian.

This role is located in the Pacific Time Zone (PT). You must be willing and able to work out of this time zone to qualify.

This position is not eligible for F1 and J1 students. It is not available for any work sponsorship.

Our paid internship program runs for 12 weeks between May/June 2027 - August/September 2027.

Your Future Team

Atlassian helps teams unleash their potential through the Teamwork Graph, the intelligent context layer powering 85% of the Fortune 500. Over 300,000 customers globally, including NASA, SpaceX, Netflix, Spotify, Airbnb, and the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula 1 team, all use our apps to build AI-first experiences through a transformed SDLC.

As a Product Design Intern, you’ll work on real design challenges that solve for the beautiful mess of modern work and gain firsthand insight into how we are transforming the way work gets done in an AI-first company. Atlassian Design turns complex teamwork into clear, connected, and inclusive experiences. You’ll work alongside designers, product managers, and engineers across our global organization, learning how to understand real customer problems, explore and test ideas, communicate decisions, and turn them into high-quality technical prototypes with our world-class AI tooling.

We’re building an AI-native company and rethinking how people and intelligent systems work together. Our teams are exploring new interaction models for AI, including Rovo and AI-powered experiences across Jira, Confluence, and our wider cloud platform. If you’re curious, collaborative, and excited to make a difference while learning from a global design community, Atlassian is the place to start your career and help build the future of teamwork.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Apply strong interaction, visual, and systems-design craft to turn ambiguous customer problems into simple, accessible product experiences across Atlassian products.

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and senior designers to understand customer needs, evaluate technical constraints, and make informed design decisions.

  • Use research insights, product data, technical prototyping and usability testing to explore assumptions, iterate quickly and improve the quality of shipped experiences.

  • Contribute to design systems, patterns and documentation while learning how AI and connected teamwork shape modern collaboration at scale.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to commit to a 12 week full-time (40hrs/week) program during Summer 2027

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year bachelors or 2-year masters degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by June 2028

  • Please note: At this time, this role is only open to entry-level candidates with less than a year of professional experience (this does not include internships/co-ops)

Preferred Qualifications
