Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Designer) to develop mechanical housings, mounts, and packaged assemblies for automotive electromagnetic sensors installed in underbody environments. The role focuses on designing robust, sealed, and tolerance-controlled sensor solutions that maintain performance under movement, vibration, contamination, and extreme environmental conditions.
This position works closely with electrical, magnetic, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable sensor operation throughout the vehicle lifetime.

  • Design sensor housings, brackets, mounts, and protective features for electromagnetic sensors exposed to environmental stress conditions.
  • Create and release 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings compliant with OEM and internal standards.
  • Perform packaging and integration studies considering the parts in movement
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups to ensure sensor performance across manufacturing variation, vehicle assembly, and in-use movement.
  • Account for water exposure, thermal expansion, vibration, shock, and corrosion in mechanical designs.
  • Design components suitable for high-volume production using injection molding, overmolding, insert molding, stamping, joining or machining.
  • Support material selection for plastics, elastomers, and metals.
  • Collaborate with magnetic and electrical engineers to translate performance requirements into mechanical constraints.
  • Support tooling development, part validation, and supplier technical discussions.
  • Incorporate DFM/DFA and cost-optimization initiatives without compromising durability.
  • Support design reviews, design changes, and customer issue resolution.
