The United States is the world's second-largest power market, comprising seven Independent System Operators (ISOs), each with its own market structure and dynamics. As one of the fastest-growing regions in the energy sector, the U.S. market is expected to contribute approximately 30% of TotalEnergies' Integrated Power business by 2030.

To support this ambitious growth strategy, TotalEnergies continues to expand and optimize a diverse portfolio of renewable and conventional energy assets, including solar, wind, thermal generation, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), complemented by long-term energy contracts.

As Manager, Asset & Long-Term Contracts Energy Margin, you will play a critical role in maximizing portfolio value and delivering targeted energy margins. Acting as a key link between Asset Management and Trading teams, you will help ensure commercial performance, market optimization, and effective risk management across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the execution of the company's approved hedging strategy to protect and optimize portfolio value.
  • Ensure accurate economic modeling and market representation of assets to support dispatch optimization and capacity planning activities.
  • Partner closely with Asset Managers, Traders, and commercial stakeholders to maximize energy margin performance.
  • Provide clear and insightful reporting to senior management on portfolio performance, market exposure, and value creation opportunities.
  • Prepare and facilitate cross-functional governance committees, ensuring effective communication of activities, risks, decisions, and results.
  • Coordinate and organize the activities of the Energy Margin function to support efficient execution and continuous improvement.
  • Operate across liquid power markets with a planning horizon of up to three years, developing innovative solutions to address complex market, operational, and commercial challenges.
  • Contribute to the growth and optimization of a rapidly expanding portfolio within one of the most dynamic energy markets in the world.

As Manager, Asset & Long-Term Contracts Energy Margin, you will be responsible for optimizing, managing, and forecasting the energy margin performance of TotalEnergies' growing portfolio of generation assets and long-term contracts. You will serve as a critical interface between Trading, Asset Management, Finance, and Portfolio Management teams to maximize value creation and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the optimization and forecasting of energy margins across the asset and long-term contracts portfolio.
  • Deliver detailed asset-level P&L attribution, performance analysis, and margin reporting, identifying value creation and optimization opportunities.
  • Provide energy margin forecasts and performance insights to support financial planning, budgeting, and long-term portfolio strategy.
  • Execute and monitor the approved hedging framework in close collaboration with Trading desks to manage market exposure and protect portfolio value.
  • Act as the primary Trading interface for Asset Management teams, coordinating activities such as internal contract management, outage planning, and operational scheduling.
  • Lead the onboarding and integration of new assets, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), and long-term contracts into the portfolio management framework.
  • Partner with Finance to provide analytical insights on asset performance, supporting commercial and monetization decisions.
  • Develop medium- and long-term market outlooks, scenario analyses, and margin forecasts to support asset planning and long-term portfolio development.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across Trading, Asset Management, Finance, Risk, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on portfolio objectives and performance.

The Manager, Asset & Long-Term Contracts Energy Margin is accountable for delivering portfolio energy margin performance in line with the Company's approved hedging strategy and risk management framework.


What You Bring

  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Energy Markets, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in energy portfolio management, asset optimization, power markets, trading support, or a similarly analytical and commercially focused role within the energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. power markets, including energy, ancillary services, and capacity market structures.
  • Solid understanding of power generation assets and operations, including renewable energy technologies, thermal generation (CCGT), and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Deep understanding of market fundamentals, locational marginal pricing (LMP), congestion management, and grid operations.
  • Proven ability to translate complex market and portfolio analytics into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders across Trading, Asset Management, Finance, Risk, and Senior Leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within major U.S. ISO/RTO markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, or SPP.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), trading platforms, asset optimization tools, and market analytics solutions.
  • Experience supporting hedging strategies, risk management activities, and portfolio optimization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of long-term power contracts, structured transactions, tolling agreements, PPAs, and renewable energy markets.
  • Proven success operating within complex, highly matrixed organizations and collaborating across multiple business functions.
