Job description

At Verda, we're building a fully featured European AI cloud, covering everything needed to train, experiment with, and deploy AI models at scale.

We are a full-stack AI infrastructure company, meaning we design, operate, and optimize the compute powering modern AI workloads across training and inference. Our infrastructure runs on 100% renewable energy, helping build a more sustainable AI ecosystem.

Join Verda while it’s still being built - not once it’s finished.

About the role

We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to support Verda’s legal and regulatory function as we scale. You’ll work across a broad range of legal areas, with a particular focus on supporting a fast-growing technology business operating at the intersection of AI, infrastructure, and data.

This is a hands-on role in a scale-up environment, where you’ll collaborate closely with technical, commercial, and compliance teams to provide pragmatic legal guidance and help shape our legal foundations in a global, multi-jurisdictional context. You will play a key role in enabling Verda’s growth, including supporting corporate global expansion.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide legal support across key business areas, including commercial agreements, partnerships, employment, and vendor relationships

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including NDAs, SaaS, infrastructure, and technology-related agreements

  • Support corporate legal matters, including governance, structuring, and internal documentation

  • Support and advise on corporate expansion activities, including entry into new markets and jurisdictional setup considerations

  • Assist in fundraising and M&A activities, including due diligence, transaction support, and coordination with external counsel

  • Support legal aspects of supply chain and procurement operations, including vendor terms, risk allocation, and commercial structuring

  • Advise on intellectual property matters, including protection, licensing, and risk assessment

  • Monitor and interpret relevant regulatory developments across Finland, the EU, and other relevant jurisdictions, particularly in AI, data protection, and digital infrastructure

  • Support compliance with applicable regulations such as GDPR, AI Act, and other emerging frameworks

  • Work closely with compliance, security, and product teams to ensure legal considerations are embedded in operations and product development

  • Assist in developing internal legal guidelines, templates, and training materials

  • Support external counsel coordination across different jurisdictions where needed

Your key competencies

  • OTM/LLM or equivalent degree from an accredited law program

  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience (law firm or in-house)

  • Strong working knowledge of commercial contracting, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements (e.g., NDAs, SaaS, technology contracts)

  • Ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to translate legal complexity into actionable guidance

  • High level of ownership, ethical judgment, and professionalism

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical, product, and commercial teams

  • Ability to operate in a multi-jurisdictional context, including knowing when to escalate to external counsel

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience a technology, infrastructure, or high-growth company environment

  • Expertise in one or more of: Intellectual Property (IP), Corporate law, and/or AI / emerging technology regulation

  • Privacy and data protection

  • Exposure to M&A transactions, fundraising, or corporate structuring

  • Experience supporting international expansion or cross-border operations

  • Familiarity with EU AI Act and other digital regulations

  • Prior experience working with external counsel across jurisdictions
