Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Learning Zone Aide works with children to improve skills and encourage growth. The position is for the summer on-site program with the potential to transfer to a part-time during the school year as a Learning Zone Assistant Teacher.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisted with class activities for children in kindergarten to 6th grade.
  • Assist with daily cleaning of Learning Zone areas.
  • Assisted and lead recreation and gym activities for children.
  • Assist and lead enrichment program.
  • Actively supervise children.
  • Attend required in-service training and Keepsafe protocols.
  • Assist with assessments and evaluations of children.
  • Maintain and monitor records and statistics needed for the program such as snacks, attendance, and supplies.
  • Help with planning and seerving meals and class activities as needed.
  • Support and uphold the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Corps Commanding Officers

    • Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma
    • Prior tutoring experience preferred

    SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills
    • Ability to relate to children
    • Ability to operate independently – self-motivated, self-management
