Job description
Position Summary
The Purchasing Intern will support the Purchasing Department with day-to-day procurement activities while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and supply chain environment. This position will work closely with Buyers, Planning, Operations, and suppliers to support material availability, purchase order management, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Buyers with purchase order creation, maintenance, and supplier follow-up.
- Track open, planned, unconfirmed, and past-due purchase orders.
- Support supplier communication regarding order confirmations, delivery dates, and material status.
- Assist with Clear-to-Build (CTB) reporting and identification of potential material shortages.
- Maintain and analyze purchasing metrics and supplier performance data.
- Support New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) purchasing activities.
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and purchasing system maintenance.
- Work with Buyers to identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and data accuracy.
- Collaborate with Planning, Operations, Engineering, and other Supply Chain functions.
- Support special projects and other Purchasing Department initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
