Amazon MGM Studios has an opening for an experienced and dynamic creative executive to lead our German Originals team. Reporting to the Head of UK & Northern Europe, this role will oversee the full creative slate across Scripted TV, Unscripted TV, and Film for the German-speaking territory. The ideal candidate has extensive experience as a commissioner, development executive, and/or producer across multiple genres, with a proven track record of identifying, developing, and delivering premium content from idea to launch.
They will bring deep knowledge of the German creative landscape, strong relationships across the local industry, and the creative vision to build a world-class slate that resonates with German audiences and travels globally.


Key job responsibilities
- Execute the overall creative strategy for German Originals across scripted, unscripted, and film
- Build and manage a balanced, commercially viable slate that aligns with Amazon MGM Studios' strategic priorities and audience goals
- Exercise excellent creative and business judgement in evaluating, greenlighting, and prioritising projects across all formats
- Identify gaps and opportunities in the slate, ensuring a pipeline of projects at various stages of development and production
- Oversee all aspects of development from concept through greenlight, including script development, packaging, and talent attachment
- Understand the creative and operational nuances of production management, including budgeting, scheduling, casting, and final delivery
- Build and maintain strong relationships with creators, writers, directors, showrunners, producers, production companies, talent representatives, and the broader German creative community
- Manage relationships with internal and external talent and key partners
- Build and manage cross-functional relationships within Prime Video, ensuring alignment across content, product, and business teams to maximise the impact of the German Originals slate
- Serve as the primary creative point of contact for the German market, representing Amazon MGM Studios at industry events, festivals, and markets
- Cultivate a deep and established network within the German-speaking entertainment industry
- Liaise with other departments including Marketing, Publicity, Research, Digital, Social, and Business & Legal Affairs
- Manage, mentor, and develop a creative team across scripted, unscripted, and film
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and ambitious team culture

Basic Qualifications

- Experience managing a budget or P&L
- Speak, write, and read fluently in German and English at C1 level or above
- Significant experience in a senior creative leadership role within the German television and/or film industry (e.g., Head of Development, Head of Programming, Senior Commissioner, or equivalent)
- Proven track record of commissioning, developing, and delivering successful scripted and/or unscripted content and film
- Deep understanding of the German media landscape, audience preferences, and competitive environment
- Established relationships with key talent, producers, and production companies in Germany
- Excellent leadership skills with experience building and managing creative teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working at a TV Network, broadcaster, or an online streaming platform, specializing in digital video delivery or streaming media technologies
- Experience in making data driven business decisions
- Experience working across multiple formats (scripted, unscripted, and film)
- Track record of producing or commissioning content that has achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success
- Passion for storytelling that resonates locally and travels internationally
