Job description
Description Ocean is building the future of email security. The attacks getting through today often look completely normal. AI did not invent targeted phishing or social engineering. It changed the economics of it. What once required a highly skilled attacker can now be created at scale, in minutes, and often looks like a completely legitimate message from someone you trust.Ocean is the first agentic email security platform built for this new reality. Our agents investigate suspicious emails the way a great security analyst would: understanding context, following the evidence, and explaining what they find.Founded in 2024 by Shay Shwartz and Oran Moyal, who spent years building targeted email attacks for homeland security, Ocean is the system they know would have stopped them. Today, we protect hundreds of thousands of mailboxes and analyze more than a billion emails every month for companies including Kayak, Headspace, and Fortune 500 enterprises. We're backed by $28M from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Picture Capital, Cerca Partners, and some of the best operators in cybersecurity. We're headquartered in New York and Tel Aviv. And we're just getting started. This is an enormous market opportunity. The problem is getting harder, the category is changing quickly, and Ocean is growing fast. We're hiring our Growth Marketing Lead. This is not a role where you'll inherit a mature growth machine and optimize it around the edges. You'll build the machine. You'll own how people discover Ocean, what they see when they get here, how we turn attention into engagement, how we turn engagement into qualified pipeline, and how that pipeline gets into the hands of our sales team. You'll have ownership across our website, digital presence, paid acquisition, organic growth, email, lifecycle, SEO, AEO, conversion, sales handoff, and the systems that connect it all together. You'll work directly with our founders and closely with product, sales, and the rest of the marketing team. Our product and R&D team is in Tel Aviv and our go-to-market team is in the US, so expect some early mornings ET. You'll have a huge amount of freedom to experiment, test ideas, move quickly, and figure out what actually works. We care about creativity and quality, but we care just as much about results. We want someone who gets genuinely excited about looking at a funnel, finding the constraint, forming a hypothesis, building something, measuring it, and making it better. There is a massive opportunity in front of Ocean. We're looking for someone who wants to build the growth engine that helps us capture it. Responsibilities Own the growth engineOwn Ocean's digital and growth funnel from first touch through conversion and pipeline. Identify where we're winning, where we're losing, and where the biggest opportunities are. Build the systems, programs, experiments, and processes that continuously improve performance.Own Ocean's websiteOwn the website as one of Ocean's most important growth assets. Partner with design, product, and engineering to continuously improve messaging, information architecture, user experience, conversion, content, and performance. You should think of the website as a living growth product, not a brochure that gets redesigned every few years.Drive demand through digitalBuild and manage programs that create qualified demand across paid and organic channels. Develop hypotheses, launch campaigns, measure results, and continuously optimize toward pipeline. You'll have significant ownership over budget, channel strategy, experimentation, and performance.Own SEO and AEOBuild Ocean's visibility wherever buyers are looking for answers, including traditional search and emerging AI-driven discovery. Develop the strategy, content, technical foundation, and experimentation needed to make Ocean increasingly discoverable and authoritative.Build the content distribution enginePartner closely with product marketing and content to make sure great ideas don't just get created, they get distributed and discovered.Turn Ocean's insights, research, product stories, customer proof, and thought leadership into campaigns and experiences that reach the right people and move them through the funnel.Own email and lifecycleBuild and optimize Ocean's email and lifecycle programs, from newsletters and nurture to product and campaign communications. Develop segmentation, journeys, testing, and personalization that turn interest into engagement and engagement into pipeline.Own conversionObsess over what happens after someone arrives.Analyze the journey from traffic to conversion to opportunity. Identify friction, run experiments, improve landing pages and forms, and continuously find ways to increase the percentage of the right people who take the next step.Own the handoff to salesGrowth doesn't end at a form fill. Own what happens between a converted lead and a real conversation: routing, follow-up standards, lead quality, and the feedback loop that tells us which programs produce pipeline and which produce noise.Come with a point of view on which accounts we should be going after and why. Ocean is scaling from a handful of sellers to a much larger team, with outbound support from an external partner, so this role is the bridge between what marketing produces and how sales activates it: the account, the personas, the messaging, and the signals that say now is the moment. You'll build the target account and persona logic behind our campaigns and make sure sellers have the context to act on it.You'll partner closely with our VP of Sales and hold both sides accountable. Marketing for lead quality, sales for follow-through. When leads are sitting, we want you to be the person who says so.As the team grows we'll add dedicated engineering support to automate signal detection and triggering. Until then, you'll build these plays with the tools we have and the AI expertise you bring.Measure what mattersBuild a rigorous growth measurement framework across traffic, engagement, conversion, pipeline, and revenue.Know where our best opportunities are coming from, what is actually working, where we're wasting money, and what we should do next. You should be as comfortable in a dashboard as you are in a creative brief.Experiment relentlesslyCreate a culture of testing. Develop hypotheses, launch quickly, learn from the data, and iterate. You'll have room to try things that haven't been done before. Some will work. Some won't. The expectation is that we learn quickly and keep moving.Build the functionThis is an early growth function. You'll help determine the right tools, systems, processes, agencies, partners, and future team structure needed to scale the engine as Ocean grows.Own key relationships and make things happenOwn the relationship with our creative agency and other external partners, ensuring they have the context, direction, and accountability needed to deliver great work. This role should be a connector and a driver. You'll work across teams and partners to make sure the right things happen, obstacles get removed, and important work doesn't get stuck waiting for someone else. Requirements We're looking for someone who has built growth and demand programs in a B2B technology or cybersecurity startup and knows how to turn digital attention into measurable business results. You should have:Significant growth, demand generation, or digital marketing experience in a security startup. Cybersecurity experience is strongly preferred. You understand technical buyers, complex sales cycles, and the difference between generating activity and generating pipeline.A proven track record of owning a funnel. You have been accountable for moving people from awareness through conversion and ultimately toward pipeline. You think in terms of traffic, conversion, velocity, pipeline, and revenue, not just clicks and impressions.Experience working hand-in-glove with sales. You've partnered with account executives and BDRs rather than handing them leads and hoping. You can build the target account and persona logic behind a campaign, brief a sales team on it, and hold people to follow-through when leads are sitting.Strong website ownership experience. You know how to think about a website as a growth engine, including messaging, UX, conversion, content, analytics, experimentation, and ongoing optimization.Deep expertise in paid acquisition and digital demand generation. You know how to develop channel strategy, manage budgets, build campaigns, test creative and audiences, and optimize toward business outcomes.Strong SEO and AEO knowledge. You understand how search is changing, how buyers increasingly use AI to discover and evaluate companies, and how to build an authoritative digital presence that performs across both.Exceptional analytical instincts and a real experimentation mindset. You love the numbers. You can look at a funnel, identify the biggest constraint, understand why it's happening, and decide what to test next. You form hypotheses, test them, learn, iterate, and you're comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.Hands-on execution skills. You are not someone who needs a large team to get things done. You can write the brief, build the campaign, work in the tools, analyze the results, and make the next iteration yourself.Strong technical curiosity. You are excited by technical products and want to understand how they work. You can work comfortably with product, engineering, security, and technical marketing teams.Exceptional digital instincts. You have strong taste and understand what makes a digital experience compelling. You know when something feels generic, when a campaign has an interesting idea behind it, and when we're simply adding more noise to the internet.AI is deeply embedded in how you work. You are an AI super-user who constantly experiments with new tools to research, analyze, create, automate, personalize, and move faster.Startup experience and a builder mentality. You're comfortable owning a broad surface area, making decisions without a playbook, and building systems that don't exist yet.The person we're really looking for: You're part marketer, part operator, part analyst, and part growth engineer/hacker.You get excited about both the creative and the numbers. You can look at a campaign and immediately start thinking about the story, the audience, the creative, the channel, the landing page, the conversion path, and how we're going to know whether it worked. You don't believe "brand" and "performance" are separate worlds. You understand that a great brand makes performance marketing better, and great performance data makes the entire marketing organization smarter. You're intensely curious. You want to understand the customer, the product, the market, the technology, and the data. You ask why constantly. You're also an AI super-user. You are constantly finding new ways to use AI to do things faster, better, and differently. You don't wait for someone to tell you how AI fits into your job. You're already figuring it out.You have strong opinions, but you're empirical. You are happy to kill an idea when the data says it isn't working. You don't confuse activity with progress. And you genuinely like building. There will not be a 50-person growth team. There will not be a perfectly documented playbook. There will be things you've never done before. That's the point. You will have the opportunity to build the growth engine for a company operating in one of the most interesting and important areas of cybersecurity, at a moment when the market is changing incredibly quickly. If the idea of owning the entire digital growth machine and turning it into a serious pipeline engine gets you excited, we want to meet you.How to applySend us your CV along with three examples of growth-related work you personally built or owned.Campaigns, landing pages, websites, experiments, acquisition programs, lifecycle programs, content distribution, SEO/AEO work, dashboards, or anything else that demonstrates how you think and execute.Tell us what you built, what you were responsible for, and what happened. We care much more about seeing how you think, build, and drive results than seeing a perfect list of logos on your resume.Description Ocean is building the future of email security. The attacks getting through today often look completely normal.
