As the GHG Management Lead, you will spearhead the company's greenhouse gas management strategy, oversee emissions reporting and governance, and partner with senior stakeholders to advance our decarbonisation objectives.

Your Impact:

The GHG Management Lead position is responsible for :

1. GHG strategy and roadmap definition

  • KPI selection and baselining: Define and establish baseline data for GHG emissions and energy consumption, ensuring alignment with TotalEnergies' Sustainability Five Levers, NREB, PETRONAS, GHG accounting protocol and regulatory reporting frameworks
  • GHG ambition setting & strategy design: Set targets for emissions carbon reduction in line with TotalEnergies' climate commitments, regulatory requirements (e.g., Sarawak Greenhouse Gas Reduction Bill, Federal Carbon Policies, HSEMS), and operational feasibility
  • GHG roadmap development: Integrate emission reduction strategies into the sustainability roadmap and operational planning (e.g., Integrated Operations Plan), defining key initiatives, suggesting resource allocation, and implementation timelines
  • GHG strategy review and validation: Present to management the status of GHG performance, propose emissions reduction initiatives, evaluate feasibility and impact, and seek validation of progress plans

2. GHG roadmap execution and monitoring

  • Progress tracking: Ensure GHG-related achievements are included in affiliate sustainability KPIs (e.g., Sustainab’ALL) and assess progress toward emission reduction targets towards Net Zero by 2050.
  • Performance steering: Implement best practices, methodologies, and digital tools from HQ and market for GHG tracking, facilitating knowledge-sharing between teams
  • Adjustment and optimization: Adapt GHG reduction strategies based on regulatory changes, market trends, and operational constraints to continuously improve emission performance
  • Carbon footprint reduction (CFR) projects: Coordinate with TotalEnergies HQ to implement carbon reduction projects

3. GHG reporting and compliance

  • HQ reporting: Provide input for TotalEnergies’ LTP and Climate and Sustainability reports (e.g., Sustainability & Climate ProgressReport)
  • JV and regulatory reporting: Collaborate with JV partners on GHG reporting and local regulatory requirements (e.g., Sarawak Greenhouse Gas Reduction Bill)
  • Carbon footprint and emissions tracking: Lead CO₂ accounting and emission verification processes to ensure compliance with Malaysian and international climate regulations

4. GHG leadership and advocacy

  • Internal engagement: Organize awareness sessions, training, and workshops to ensure all levels of the organization understand GHG reduction goals and best practices
  • External representation: Represent TEPMY in climate-related industry forums, PETRONAS engagements, and JV sustainability discussions, positioning the affiliate as a leader in emission reduction efforts
  • Best practice sharing: Foster collaboration between internal teams, JV partners, and external stakeholders to exchange knowledge and scale up successful emission reduction initiatives

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Oil & Gas or Energy sector - Proven track record in GHG management, carbon accounting - Hands-on experience in implementing carbon reduction projects – Leadership experience in driving cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in emissions measurement, Scope 1–3 accounting, and carbon footprint analysis
  • Strong application of GHG protocol, API Standards, PETRONAS standards, NREB reporting guidelines, ISO 14064-1 verification methodology
  • Proven ability to design and execute carbon reduction and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Proficiency in emissions tracking systems, data analysis, and sustainability reporting platforms.
  • Management of multi-project portfolios with structured delivery of GHG eg AUSEA, CFRs, Methane monitoring
  • GHG/carbon accounting certifications (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) – Environmental management certification (ISO 14001) is preferred
  • GHG emissions management and carbon accounting standards
