American Express Aviation is a world-wide, Part 91 corporate flight department supporting executive movement through business jet and helicopter transport.

The Fixed Wing Captain, as pilot in command (PIC), is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of assigned flight duties. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors and abilities to coordinate crew functions and complete the mission in accordance with all applicable local, federal, and international regulations, as well as company policies and standard operating procedures.

The primary role of the Fixed Wing Captain is to deliver safe and professional, world-wide air transportation to the clients of the American Express Aviation business unit. The Captain will collaborate with all crew members, maintenance technicians, dispatch personnel, and aviation leadership to execute on the assigned mission. Secondary role assignments include tasks assigned that may or may not be related to flight duties to facilitate the management of core Aviation functions.

This position will be based in Newburgh, New York at Stewart International Airport.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Gulfstream 600/650 aircrafts is required
  • Prior large turbine aircraft operating experience as PIC
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity for Aviation

  • Well-developed interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, both written and oral

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in corporate/business aviation

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • FAA-issued Air Transport Pilot certificate with multi-engine rating (GVI or GVII type rating preferred)
  • English proficiency pilot certificate endorsement
  • Current, and ability to maintain, FAA first-class medical
  • Up-to-date immunization/vaccine record (subject to review by Amex Medical)

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

• Ensures that the aircraft is airworthy, registered and that the required
documentation is aboard the aircraft.
• Checks weather and all applicable NOTAMs where available, and determines fuel, oil
and oxygen requirements.
• Determines the aircraft weight and balance.
• Ensures that all flight planning requirements have been met.
• Ensures that aircraft crewmembers have valid licenses, medical certificates,
passports and visas (when required).
• Completes an aircraft preflight inspection before each departure.
• Ensures the passenger safety brief is completed.
• Coordinates with Dispatch, Maintenance, crewmembers and external agencies in the
planning and execution of flight duties.
• Coordinates with crewmembers and management in relation to any requested
deviation from the guidelines contained in this manual.
• Operates the aircraft per SOPs, AFM / RFM limitations, and in accordance with
applicable FAA / ICAO rules and regulations.
• Maintains currency requirements by type and ensures the currency of aircraft
crewmembers prior to flight.
• Ensures compliance with customs, immigration and cabotage laws.
• Verifies the passenger manifest for security purposes.
• Leads the crew utilizing appropriate CRM in the accomplishment of all trip
requirements.
• Completes all postflight duties, including notifying the company of deviations to any
planned itinerary or overnight location.
• Records flight times and aircraft defects.
