A well-established independent school in Wimbledon, South West London is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its professional business team from October Half Term 2026.

This is an opportunity for a confident finance professional to take responsibility for the school's financial operations while working alongside senior leaders to support effective planning, budgeting and decision-making.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the school's finances are managed accurately, efficiently and with a clear focus on value for money.

Your Responsibilities

The position will cover a broad range of financial activity, including:

  • Managing the school's day-to-day finance function

  • Preparing management accounts and financial reports

  • Managing budgets, forecasts and financial planning

  • Monitoring expenditure and investigating variances

  • Overseeing purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments

  • Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Supporting payroll and pension processes

  • Managing supplier relationships and procurement

  • Preparing information for audits and financial reviews

  • Advising senior leaders on financial matters

  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency

About You

The ideal candidate will have solid experience within a finance management, accounting or management accounting position.

You may already be working within education, but candidates from commercial, charity or public-sector backgrounds with strong transferable experience are also welcome.

Strong Excel skills, excellent numerical ability and a high level of accuracy are essential. You'll also need to be comfortable handling confidential financial information and explaining financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

The Package

  • £45,000 – £58,000 per annum
