Architectural Lighting Controls Field Service TechnicianLocation: CaliforniaEmployment Type: Full-TimeTravel: Regional travel throughout CaliforniaTheater Outsource is seeking an experienced Architectural Lighting Controls Field Service Technician to perform startup, commissioning, programming, and service work on ETC architectural lighting-control systems throughout California.This is an excellent opportunity for an ETC-trained technician who understands how lighting-control systems come together in the field. You will work on newly installed and existing systems in theaters, schools, performing arts centers, houses of worship, commercial buildings, and other architectural environments.ResponsibilitiesPerform system startup, configuration, programming, and commissioning of ETC architectural lighting-control systems.Test newly installed systems and verify proper operation of control stations, processors, gateways, dimming, relays, networks, and connected equipment.Troubleshoot control wiring, communication, networking, programming, and equipment-related issues.Identify installation deficiencies and coordinate corrective work with electricians, project managers, engineers, and other trades.Read and interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, risers, specifications, and construction submittals.Complete functional testing and confirm that systems meet project requirements.Program lighting-control sequences, presets, schedules, stations, and system functionality.Provide onsite training to end users and facility personnel.Perform warranty service, preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and emergency troubleshooting.Document completed work, programming changes, deficiencies, and recommended repairs.Communicate clearly with customers, contractors, project teams, and internal staff.Travel to project sites throughout California as required.QualificationsCurrent or previous ETC Authorized Service Provider training is strongly preferred.Hands-on experience starting up, commissioning, programming, or servicing architectural lighting-control systems from ETC, Acuity Brands, Crestron, Lutron, Legrand/Wattstopper, or other comparable manufacturers.Strong understanding of architectural lighting controls, dimming, relays, networking, DMX, gateways, processors, and control stations.Experience troubleshooting both hardware and software issues in the field.Ability to read electrical and technical drawings.Strong computer, networking, and diagnostic skills.Excellent customer-service and communication skills.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions at active construction and customer sites.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the assigned California territory.Ability to safely use ladders, access equipment rooms, and lift or carry tools and equipment associated with field-service work.The OpportunityThis position offers the chance to work independently on sophisticated architectural lighting systems while representing an established organization in the entertainment-technology and lighting-controls industry.
