NHS Grampian is seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Senior Staff Nurse (Band 6) to join our dedicated nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled registered nurse looking to take the next step in their career and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.

As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership, support the development of junior staff, and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible clinical leadership within the paediatric homecare team.
  • Deliver high standards of patient-centred nursing care.
  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day running of the service in the absence of the Team lead.
  • Support, supervise, and mentor nursing staff, students, Band 5 staff nurses and healthcare support workers.
  • Participate in staff appraisals, training, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive culture that supports excellence in patient care and staff wellbeing.
  • Contribute to service improvement and change management projects.

About You

Applicants should:

  • Be a Registered Children’s Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Have three years post-registration clinical experience in a paediatric setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Have experience supervising and supporting staff within a clinical environment.
  • Be committed to delivering high-quality patient care and continuous improvement.
  • Possess strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Have evidence of continuing professional development.
