Diagnostic Technician

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect vehicles using specialist diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify and repair faults.
• Diagnose complex electrical and electronic systems based on customer complaints and Service Advisor instructions.
• Perform complete vehicle inspections using VDS testers and guided fault-finding programs to identify the root cause of technical issues.
• Review vehicle history, service records, and relevant technical information before carrying out repairs.
• Ensure customer complaints are accurately diagnosed and resolved, with clear technical comments and repair quotations provided to the Service Advisor.
• Distinguish between operating problems, system characteristics, and genuine technical faults.
• Diagnose and resolve faults related to vehicle networking, distributed functions, communication systems, and electronic components.
• Coordinate with Parts Advisors, Team Leaders, and Workshop Controllers to identify and obtain the correct parts required for repairs.
• Stay updated with factory technical bulletins, technical information, and developments in automotive technology.
• Ensure all pending MG technical and warranty campaigns are identified and addressed.
• Follow warranty processes and guidelines in coordination with the Warranty team.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of special tools and ensure proper use and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation as required.
• Identify and report quality issues found on new vehicles.
• Supervise and mentor diagnosis team members and ensure proper use of special tools, testing equipment, and service manuals.
• Continuously participate in formal technical training to remain updated with rapidly changing automotive technologies.
• Ensure repairs and diagnostic procedures are carried out in accordance with MG Guidelines and IEM SOP.
• Maintain company assets, tools, and equipment in good condition.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Service Manager or Master Technician.

Role Purpose

To provide expert technical support in structured and efficient vehicle fault finding, ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective repairs, reducing repeat repairs, supporting workshop sales, and improving overall workshop efficiency and customer satisfaction.

What We're Looking For:

Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity. Experience as an Automotive Senior Technician, Automotive Electrician, Diagnostic Technician, or Automotive Mechatronics Engineer is preferred.

Education: Higher Diploma in Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

Certification(s)/Training(s): Must be a Certified Master Technician with relevant technical and manufacturer training.

Languages: Fluency in English is essential; Arabic language skills are preferred.

Driving License: Valid driving license is required.

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate with the ability to use diagnostic systems, technical platforms, and standard office applications.

Equipment Knowledge: Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostic equipment, VDS testers, electronic testing tools, special tools, and vehicle service manuals.
