Description

INTECH Process Automation is seeking a skilled Cost Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The selected candidate will establish, monitor, control, and forecast the project and maintenance costs. Prepares cost estimates and rate build-ups, monitors budgets, commitments, actuals and accruals, develops ETC/EAC forecasts, analyzes cost variances, and evaluates the financial impact of variations and change orders. Coordinates with Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, and execution teams to provide accurate cost and commercial reporting and maintain effective cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, rate build-ups, and cost baselines for maintenance, projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, and additional work.
  • Monitor actual, committed, accrued, and forecast costs against approved budgets and identify variances, overruns, and commercial risks.
  • Prepare ETC/EAC forecasts and assess the financial impact of changes in scope, productivity, resources, schedule, and procurement.
  • Evaluate and manage variations, change orders, additional works, and omissions, including pricing, rate build-ups, and supporting commercial documentation.
  • Review and verify contractor, subcontractor, vendor, and service invoices against approved scope, quantities, rates, purchase orders, work orders, and contractual terms.
  • Monitor procurement commitments, purchase orders, subcontract costs, and commercial exposure in coordination with Procurement/Buyers.
  • Coordinate with the Planner/Scheduler to align cost forecasts with physical progress, schedule performance, and remaining work.
  • Maintain accurate cost databases, registers, forecasts, and cost-control records.
  • Analyze planned versus actual cost performance and identify the financial impact of delays, productivity losses, resource inefficiencies, and scope changes.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly/monthly cost reports, dashboards, variance analysis, commitment and accrual reports, cash-flow forecasts, and management commercial reports.
  • Support management with accurate cost, forecasting, commercial, and financial performance information.

Requirements

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of oil & gas experience, including 3 years in Cost Engineering or an equivalent cost-control/project-controls function.
  • Experience in maintenance, brownfield projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, or industrial facilities preferred.
  • Strong experience in cost estimating, rate build-up, budgeting, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with actual, committed, accrued, ETC and EAC cost management.
  • Competent in change-order/variation evaluation and invoice verification.
  • Knowledge of procurement commitments, subcontractor costs, cash-flow forecasting, and commercial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP/SAP and project-controls systems.
