Job description

About the Role

Our national practice works with large international listed and inbound businesses. You will work primarily on a complementary portfolio of Tax Accounting and Audit of Tax clients, with the opportunity to explore more general advisory projects.

Our Tax Accounting Services (TAS) team works nationally, assisting advisory clients with complex tax account preparation and provisioning amid growing deal activity and heightened regulatory focus. We serve a diverse client base, ranging from FTSE 100 companies and overseas-listed groups to UK mid-tier businesses across various industries. You will have the opportunity to contribute end-to-end, from client proposals through to technical delivery.

Our Audit of Tax Specialists (ATS) team sits at the intersection of tax technical expertise and audit quality. We lead and oversee the delivery of complex audits of tax for some of the UK’s largest and most internationally diverse businesses. There are also opportunities to play to your strengths, be that in shaping best practice, driving technical training, or contributing to the strategic growth of the specialism within the firm.

We seek to attract the best people from a diverse talent pool and encourage a culture where people can be themselves and be valued for their strengths. With colleagues in over 10 offices nationwide, we offer flexibility on location.

We offer a clear career path through to Director, with a potential pathway to Partner, supported by strong investment in coaching and professional development at every level. This role offers particularly varied, challenging work and the opportunity to build an extensive network across specialist teams including Audit, Accounting Structuring, Corporate Reporting Services, Legal, and Valuations.

What your days will look like:

  • As a Senior Manager, you will manage close relationships with a wide range of clients. You will support and develop your teams and should expect the same for your peers, Directors and Partners. You will have a key role in ensuring high-quality, technically rigorous, and timely delivery of audit of tax and tax accounting assignments.
  • You will also explore opportunities to develop deeper knowledge in particular areas of interest, including international structuring, wider tax advisory work, or certain industry sectors.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing a client portfolio of audit of tax and tax accounting work, liaising internally with technical specialists and externally with client teams, and reporting to the local and wider Partner/Director group
  • Leading and overseeing teams to deliver complex audits of tax, liaising with internal specialists, clients and client tax advisors, and the core audit team as required
  • Advising on the tax aspects of GAAP transitions (e.g. to IFRS or US GAAP), the tax accounting aspects of acquisitions and disposals, and the tax elements of adopting new standards, and assisting advisory clients nationally with complex tax account preparation and provisioning
  • Advising on or reviewing deferred tax asset recoverability, uncertain tax positions and tax accounting methodology and approach
  • Assisting with the tax accounting for carve-out financial statements and tax accounting preparation work.

The Role is for you if:

  • You must have a UK professional qualification (eg ACA, CTA, ATT, CA, ACCA, solicitor) or overseas equivalent.
  • You have gained significant international and UK corporate tax advisory experience working on complex transactions, with experience in tax accounting and/or audit of tax; strong technical knowledge of UK corporate tax, tax computations, and tax accounting is essential (IFRS and FRS102 essential, US GAAP optional).
  • You will need strong analytical skills and a flexible approach, combined with the ability to work as part of a number of client teams simultaneously.
  • You will have experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, together with proven leadership skills managing senior stakeholders and large teams.
  • You will have experience of project managing and delegating work within a team context, and will be commercially aware, with business development experience and confidence discussing wider UK and global business issues.
  • You will have a focus on self-development and on the development of those working with you.

What you'll receive from us :

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
