Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Clinical Supervisor of Surgical Services, you will help our medical staff and department personnel so they can provide safe, high-quality patient care and an optimal clinical experience. Every day you will coordinate daily operations, including scheduling and staffing, while serving as a primary liaison between hospital leadership, physicians, and families. You will be expected to supervise and educate department staff, ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and Dignity Health standards, and maintain a sharp focus on cost containment and time management. To be successful in this role, you will integrate clinical expertise with administrative leadership to mitigate risk, uphold strict professional standards, and step in to provide direct patient care whenever the needs of the unit require it.Assists in selection, training, and evaluation of subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policy and organizational philosophyParticipates in development and maintenance of department policies and protocols. Understands, communicates and enforces hospital policies and regulatory requirementsParticipates in the orientation of personnel. Provides educational resources and serves as the resource person. Mentors staff and plans and implement shift reportAssists management in the development of the department operating budget and maintaining necessary controls to assure compliance with budgeted expenses, resources and staff productivitySupervises the day to day activity of the department, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to, patient concerns are addressed, phones are answered in a timely manner and all areas are staffed appropriately
