Job Description

United Infrastucture's Transmission & Distribution team require Plant Operatives primarily located across sites in England & Wales, however projects are ongoing across the whole of the UK.

Role Requirements:

  • To assist in all aspects of access & accommodation including but not limited to; groundworks, environmental mitigation, duct installation, culvert installation, fencing, site set-up, signage, CDM demarcation and assisting cable laying teams
  • Undertake plant operator duties, checks and basic routine maintenance
  • Deliver the work safely
  • Deliver the work productively
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and honest
  • To execute all activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management system requirements and best working
  • Read, understand and implement all applicable plans, procedures and work instructions for the project, ensuring always, that the project works is undertaken safely and to a high standard
  • Complete all work scopes in accordance with the applicable work pack / job card instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches
  • Install the work site (fencing, signage, guarding, bog mats, trackway, etc.)
  • Safe operation of plant & equipment
  • Daily maintenance of plant (grease joints etc)
  • Maintain daily logs of equipment usage
  • Maintain daily logs of safety checks 
  • Working to levels supplied by the Site Engineer for cut & fill/floating access road/pad activities & groundworks
  • Reporting of defects / hazards
  • Responsible for assessing ground conditions for use 
  • Use of Cat and Genny
  • Install pumps and monitor water pumping operations
  • General housekeeping on the site 
  • Participate in toolbox talks
  • Install when required temporary works (boxes, trench sheets) as per temporary works design parameters
  • General assistance to deliver the work
  • Must stop any work that is unsafe
  • Must put own safety and those of colleagues first
  • Must start work only after assessing the risks
  • Must demonstrate safety as an integral part of their job
  • To work within established Company policies and procedures
  • Promote company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company ethos
  • To demonstrate safety, integrity & commitment always
  • Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business
  • To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Face Test- Alpha Solway
  • Fire Awareness
  • LOLER Awareness

Desirable:

  • Excavator and Streetworks Validation Certificates
