Job description

A thriving secondary school in Salford is seeking a Caretaker to join the premises team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with caretaking, maintenance, or facilities experience who enjoys practical work and wants to make a real contribution to the smooth running of a busy school.

The Role

Working as part of the premises team, you'll help ensure the school remains safe, secure, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Opening and locking the school site

  • Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs

  • Completing routine health and safety inspections

  • Maintaining the school buildings and outdoor areas

  • Preparing classrooms and halls for school events

  • Supporting contractors and monitoring site access

  • Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with site compliance

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be reliable, organised, and confident working independently while managing a varied workload.

Previous experience as aCaretaker, Site Assistant, Premises Assistant, Facilities Assistant, or Maintenance Operativeis desirable. Experience within a school setting would be beneficial but is not essential for candidates with relevant transferable skills.

As part of the school's safer recruitment procedures, references from your current (or most recent) employer and a previous employer will be required before an interview can be arranged.

Salary & Benefits

  • £29,000–£33,000per annum (depending on experience)
