A welcoming primary school in Liverpool is looking to appoint an experienced Attendance & Family Liaison Officer to join its pastoral and safeguarding team from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands the importance of regular school attendance and enjoys building positive relationships with children and families.

You'll work closely with parents, school leaders and external professionals to identify barriers to attendance and put effective support in place.

What You'll Be Doing

Your work will focus on improving attendance and engagement across the school, including:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality

  • Identifying patterns of absence and persistent absenteeism

  • Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns

  • Building positive relationships with families

  • Developing and monitoring individual attendance support plans

  • Conducting attendance meetings and home visits where appropriate

  • Working alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams

  • Liaising with external agencies and local services

  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and documentation

  • Preparing attendance reports and information for school leaders

  • Supporting the school in meeting statutory attendance requirements

The Person We're Looking For

This role would suit someone with previous experience in school attendance, family support, pastoral care, safeguarding or education administration.

You'll need to be approachable and empathetic while also being confident enough to have challenging conversations with parents and carers when necessary.

Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills are essential, alongside the ability to work professionally with confidential information.
