Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ambulance Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate and commercially competitive estimates for ambulance vehicles, specialist medical interiors, emergency equipment, and associated conversion works. The role requires strong technical understanding, attention to detail, supplier coordination, and the ability to interpret customer requirements, drawings, specifications, and tender documents. The successful candidate will work closely with design, procurement, production, sales, and project teams to ensure estimates are complete, compliant, and delivered within required deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, bills of materials, and tender submissions for ambulance conversions and specialist emergency vehicles.
Review customer briefs, technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and scope-of-work documents to identify project requirements.
Estimate vehicle conversion works, medical interiors, electrical systems, lighting, oxygen systems, HVAC, stretchers, patient handling equipment, storage units, communications equipment, and associated accessories.
Develop accurate material, labour, subcontractor, tooling, logistics, and installation cost calculations.
Analyse client specifications and engineering requirements across vehicle body modifications, mechanical and electrical systems, and medical equipment integration to prepare precise material, labour, and equipment estimates
Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring technical compliance, lead times, and commercial terms are clearly understood.
Maintain estimating databases, pricing records, bills of materials, labour rates, supplier information, and historical cost data.
Support the sales and business development teams with technical clarification, value engineering, pricing reviews, and customer presentations.
Review changes to scope and prepare revised estimates, variation quotations, and commercial impact assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience in estimating, cost engineering, project engineering, vehicle conversion, specialist vehicles, automotive manufacturing, medical equipment, or a related industry.
Practical knowledge of ambulance design, emergency vehicles, vehicle body conversions, medical interiors, or specialist equipment would be advantageous.
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of materials, wiring diagrams, and customer requirements.
