Sheetmetal Instructor – 3rd ShiftOperations Training Department – Electric Boat Quonset Point

The Operations Training Department at Electric Boat Quonset Point is seeking highly motivated and experienced Sheetmetal Instructors to join our growing team on 3rd shift. Position Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will:

• Manage daily activities of multiple students, providing clear direction, mentorship, and technical guidance.• Ensure students fully understand the material taught and are prepared to apply skills effectively on the deck plate.• Oversee hands-on training to ensure safe work practices, first-time quality, and strong craftsmanship.• Promote continuous learning, curiosity, and improvement among students.• Ensure all assigned training documentation and tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.• Maintain a safe learning environment and reinforce EB’s safety standards and procedures.• Build a positive, collaborative training environment and effectively engage with students, staff, and leadership at all levels.

Additional Duties:

• Partner with Operations Managers and the Training Department to keep all curriculum current, relevant, and aligned with production needs.• Collaborate with Design/Build teams to identify emerging technologies and develop new critical skills.• Work closely with PD and Sheetmetal supervision to assess and justify new equipment to support training initiatives.• Plan, develop, and execute Sheetmetal Active Learning Centers to expand hands-on learning opportunities and support workforce proficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the sheetmetal discipline.

Preferred:

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Electric Boat experience
  • Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
  • Experience with AWPSS, EWP and ECLAD

  • Strong working knowledge of submarine construction and mechanical component installation.
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Project.
  • Knowledge of EB policies and procedures
